The road wound up to 9500' and we stopped for some lunch by a small lake enjoying the clear air and the wild flowers.
The road rises to almost 11,000' at the top of the pass, which means we get to look down on the lowlands of the lakes where we had lunch.
We can also look down to the isolated lakes in the Custer National Forest.
And finally to the Rock Creek valley, that would lead us to Red Lodge, Montana - our home for the next few nights
