A large part of going to Yorkshire was to hike, and for our first hike we headed up to Malham Cove
Malham Cove is a limestone bowl
Our walk took us above the cove onto a limestone pavement.
From the cove we continued north on the top of an attractive scar to Malham Tarn
Our route then looped back over Great Close Hill
Now we came up to Gordale Scar
The route in our book had us scrambling down the rocks by the waterfall, but we took the better part of valor and went around the side.
After all the open moorland hiking, the walk now took a distinct change in mood as we entered Janet's Foss
