Our first place to visit was Harewood House, a stately home near Leeds. We went there primarily for the garden although we also enjoyed the (unphotographable) state rooms in the interior.
The formal terrace outside the back of the house, and the landscape view behind it, was the best set piece in the garden. The statue of Orpheus is modern, but fits in well.
The grounds included a landscaped lake
a himalayan garden
and a walled garden
with a greenhouse
and something to watch over us
There was a sizeable bird garden, with lots of interesting and colorful birds. However since they were in cages, I didn't bother trying to shoot them. This one, however was more in the open.
After Harewood we headed up to Grassington where we spent the next couple of nights
