Jekyll Island is a barrier island south of Savannah. The coast here is flat and marshy, with interludes of land and water next to the ocean. Jekyll Island was bought by a club of gilded age barons as a winter sunshine retreat. It’s now owned by the state of Georgia and is a mix of private resorts, public wild beaches, and the historic area of the original club complex.
The historic area includes many of the 'cottages' build by the gilded-age club members. A couple are used by a modern resort, others are kept as historic buildings.
Although much of the coast is occupied by private resorts, there are a couple of public beaches, which had lots of interesting driftwood.
I found plenty of sand crabs to watch
There were a lot of dead jellyfish in one area of the beach
